Trust Me, I'm a Robot
I'm a tv/film director, author and nerd whisperer. I have over 15 years of directing experience with credits that span award winning film, theater and TV. My memoir, “Three Things You Need to Know About Rockets” was named ‘romantic memoir of the year’ by the Daily Mail and is in development with Annapurna Pictures.
I've just wrapped my next film “Bottle for a Special Occasion” based on an Edinburgh fringe show, co-create "Nature" a limited drama series in development with Weird Sisters Productions and create and star in youtube series “My Famous Dead Boyfriend”.
When I'm not on set, I consultant for science organizations looking at storytelling, creativity and communication - nerd whispering - and was the resident storyteller at NASA. Based on my book, I co-founded The Open Book, Airbnb’s most popular destination. I'm very proud to be XpoNorth's film sector specialist for Scotland where I hosts an online show, XpoNorth Digital Shorts.
I am a computer scientist with research specialization in machine learning and robotics.
Within the University of Edinburgh, I lead the Robust Autonomy and Decisions research group and teach courses on robotics and decision-making. We develop machine learning methods that enable autonomous robots to operate robustly in dynamic human-centred environments.
Through my work at FiveAI, some of these ideas have been implemented in a technology stack for autonomous driving and deployed on public roads.
